Seminar Questions
A: Water Proofing
2- What are the main factors to be controlled prior to the application of waterproofing materials? Explain each factor with reasons.
Main Factors for Application:
1. Elevation.
a.%1-3 elevation
b. Enough number of water outlets for water discharge
c. No ponding
2. Surface
a. Concrete / Screed (Strong, Dust-free, and Solid)
b. Humidity (measured before the application and for product selection)
3. Square meters (higher square meters increase the importance of crack bridging)
a. 0 - 100 m2 (Cement – Acrylic - Polyurethane)
b. 100 – 600 m2 (Acrylic - Polyurethane)
c. Above 600 m2 (Polyurethane)
d. Dilatation Detail (Should be studied separately)
4. Purpose of Use
a. Load Bearing (vehicle - load)
b. Green Area
c. Pedestrian Use or No Use Area
3- What are the differences between waterproofing techniques done on the screed and over the screed? What type of materials can be used? How can they be applied? Explain the differences between these materials?
Waterproofing products below screed/above coating:
MegaFilm Izo, MegaFilm İzo, EPO MegaFilm İzo, PU Megaİzo ,PU 6 MegaIzo,PU 10 Megaİzo, PU 7 MegaFilm, Megaİzo Lastik 10, Megaİzo Lastik 11,Megaİzo PK3 / PK4
Below Coating:
MegaFilm, Megaİzo Lastik 10, Megaİzo Lastik 11, MegaFilm İzo, EPO MegaFilm İzo, PU MegaIzo PU 10, Megaİzo PU 7
1. Coated with materials such as stone and gravel
2. Coated with ceramic tiles, marble, granite etc.
B: Thermal Insulation
1- What are the advantages of thermal insulation materials? Explain your answer both ecologically and economically?
Advantages of thermal insulation materials:
1- Energy efficiency, energy saving
2- Stronger and longer-lasting building
3- Positive effect on human-health
4- Environment and ecological balance
5- Helping sound insulation
6- Support the family economy.
Ecologically
1- Repair expenses reduced
2- Protect building from outside factors
3- Reducing building energy
4- Reducing health expenses
Environmentally
1- Has the greenhouse effect
2- Min energy for heating, cooling.
3- Reduce the consumption of fossil fuel
4- Minimize the effect of fuel on environmental pollution without wasting energy.
5- What is a cold bridge? How do you define it? At what locations of the building do this cold bridge can take place? Why? How do you prevent it?
In this photo they used mortar between the two materials which can be a cold bridge if they used the same material as the wall, there will be no cold bridge.
Also covering the external walls with a continuous layer of thermal insulation like polystyrene insulation board can be used. In addition, mineral wool, insulated roof, and floor, rock wool can be used.
