Softwood-evergreens-coniferous

always stay green

thin cell walls

easier to glue, work

light in color

longer fiber

Usage areas: construction. structural purpose, framing, paneling

(cedar, fir, pine, hemlock..)

 Hardwood

expensive

heavy, stronger, darker in color except maple, birch, ashwood

usage area: furniture, flooring, cabinetry manufacturing...

Solid wood

 Expensive, hard to joint, not practical for furniture use.

Timber Based board

 Different woods came together with pressing.

Plywood

Stronger than solid wood, show less moisture, can be used for built-up or box beams.

Block Board

 Each strip has different direction grains that take any directional forces. In the middle soft wood.
